Monday it
was simpler superannuation.
Last night it was IR and family friendlier workplaces.
We’ve got a busy, busy Beazley. Kimbo’s cramming. But is any of this getting
through?

The super
plan sounds sensible – and workplace relations aren’t just one of Labor’s best
hopes for the next election, but clearly providing the government with more spot
fires than lightning strikes during drought. It’s quite an accomplishment to be
able to p*ss off Peter Hendy and the CFMEU on the same day .

But who’s
listening? If you keep an eye on politics, it’s wall to wall Cole inquiry. If
you’re a normal punter, you’re thinking of the long weekend. And 18 months out
from a poll?

Of course
Labor needs to look like an alternative – and Beazley needs to look like a
leader – against the background of Cole. But is policy detail the way to do it?
It looks like overcompensation for other failings.

Beazley’s
record personal dissatisfaction rating in yesterday’s Newspoll suggests something else is needed.
