How’s this for an expensive no-brainer? We all learned back in August when the Government announced its subsidies for LPG conversion of cars that demand already outstripped supply.
Yet that hasn’t stopped the Government from blowing $2,603,389 on advertising the scheme by the middle of September, according to figures obtained by Labor’s Joel Fitzgibbon.
The total advertising budget for the scheme is $3 million. The PM only made his announcement on August 14. Spending over 80% of that dosh in just a month is pretty impressive.
And who are the beneficiaries of all this? Not hard pressed motorists. More has been spent on advertising than has been handed over for conversions to punters peeved by petrol prices.
