Introducing an election year exclusive for subscribers – the Crikey/Media Monitors Tuesday Top Twenty.

Every week, we’ll be taking you through the charts, tracking the media mentions our pollies have polled over the previous week, with a bit of help from our friends at Media Monitors.

This week, John Howard and Kevin Rudd are top of the pops. As it always seems to be. Established acts dominate the charts.

Malcolm Turnbull and Peter Costello hold the fourth and fifth spots, and media tarting has paid off for Queensland’s own Peter Beattie. He’s number six.

Victoria’s Health Minister Bronwyn Pike and Premier Steve Bracks are charting high – for reasons they won’t be entirely happy with.

But the big breakthrough act of the week has to be Joe Hockey. He hasn’t been round for long, but the federal cabinet’s very own Casey Donovan has come in at number three. And what an odd song to chose to cover – Rolf Harris’ Sun Arise.

Here it is – the inaugural Crikey/Media Monitors Tuesday Top Twenty:
