In June 07, Trading Post had 690,000 unique visits per month. Sensis claim Trading Post is part of an industry adjustment. Neither News Limited or Fairfax are reporting any specific distress in their classifieds. Sensis claims they were expecting Trading Post print revenue to decline. This is not true. At the time of purchase, they required a 13% year on year growth rate for 5 years to justify the price and they publicially stated Trading Post was a growth business. What’s gone wrong? Something for Kate. The South Australian seat of Adelaide is one of the most marginal in the country – won from Trish Worth by Labor’s glamour girl Kate Ellis. Word has it that a State Government decision to support the massive expansion of a foundry next to residents was made a fortnight or so ago – but the announcement will be held back until after the Federal election. They’re here. A friend of mine works at the Richmond Air Base, and reports that, since early last week, half the base has been taken over by US “security” personnel, with the sections they have occupied off limits to everyone, including Australian soldiers on the base…

System down. Westpac’s online banking system has been down since at least shortly before 8am in some parts of Australia. If you wait 20 minutes for customer service it will give you a secure port 43 alternative address for Westpac online which doesn’t work either. Westpac hasn’t even been able to put up an internet message saying it online services aren’t working. Whether by coincidence or not many Westpac ATMs south of Sydney aren’t working either. The straightforward customer relations option of putting a message of explanation and apology at the start of its telephone banking list of options apparently hasn’t even crossed the minds of Westpac management.
