Property developers and development companies are public spirited fellows. In 2007-07 they provided $5.1 million of the $13.9 million which AEC figures show was donated to the three major political parties.
To get an idea of who contributes what to whom, Crikey has analysed the returns which companies and individuals declared to give figures for Labor, Liberal and the Nationals as well as a total.
In some cases we have not yet been able to determine the basic interest of donors and any help our readers can provide to fill in the blanks will be appreciated.
Lobbying groups come in second with total donations of $826,849 followed by various forms of the finance industry with $733,485.
