With the bailout package failure, is John McCain‘s campaign suspension stunt backfiring? Greg Sargent writing for Talking Points Memo argues that McCain could be damaged by his strong association with the failure of the rescue package:
“In political terms, John McCain needed this bailout bill to pass. Now that it’s failed in the House, it’s clear that this could pose a serious blow to his campaign — and that his big campaign suspension gambit could backfire badly.
“McCain pushed way too many political chips onto the bailout deal with his supposed decision to put his campaign on ice and his subsequent high-profile swooping into D.C. His campaign got way too far out front appearing to take credit for the bailout in advance.”

IMHO Obama is still a good bet at these odds, you could make some money to offset your stock market losses.
I wonder what Palin will have to say in Thursday’s debate about the situation? That should be good for a few laughs to relieve the gloom. Although that smiley way she has when talking complete tosh will no doubt persuade some Americans that she is their kind of gal and just like them – ie a paragon of fools among fools.
