Quite a lot of movement in the Top 20 this week, with Wayne Swan more than doubling his coverage from last week, and even pipping his boss on radio as the full court press continued on why the government was “refining” rather than “debotching” (no, I know, its not in the dictionary) the bank deposit guarantee issue.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Opposition Leader, the first Bishop in 1,000 years to get the opportunity to attend Swiss Finishing School, managed to steer some of the attention away from the debotching effort, which the polls seemed to show the public weren’t really concerned about, in terms of the Government’s economic management credentials anyway … but could that have had something to do with the fawning media coverage?
Other big movers were Peter Garrett as he got stuck into Queensland farmers and told people to stop whingeing about wind farms, Anthony Albanese confected a marvellous bout of outrage over Malcolm Turnbull’s refusal to apologise to Ken Henry; and the compensation to bullied defence personnel got Joel Fitzgibbon in the news.
