Plenty of movement this week, with Julia Gillard back to number two as the focus moved quickly to education after Kevin Rudd effectively shut down any comment from the Opposition on climate change by going as low on reductions as anyone in the media predicted, to some consternation from the national daily, forced to give the odd backhanded compliment.

As a result it was left to the Greens and considerable sections of the media to be appalled by the targets and the ETS itself, with Christine Milne making her first appearance in the Top 20, getting more coverage than Bob Brown, particularly in broadcast media.

Other big movers were Stephen Conroy after he didn’t blink on the broadband network; Barry O’Farrell on the back of the NSW Government’s somewhat subprime polling numbers this week and Peter Costello thanks to his long term booster and close friend Tony Abbott.

Malcolm will be delighted that Tony knocked him down to sixth on talkback this week, while the rest of the list was as you would expect, with some talk of an early election in Queensland.

Exactly half the PM’s coverage up to COB Tuesday for the brand new Tiger, which, as has been noted, was a pretty amazing effort given the bulk of the coverage was in only two states.
