Swine flu gives Nicola Roxon a boost

The massively hyped swine flu pushed the alert but not alarmed Nicola Roxon up into second, with the Treasurer somewhat extraordinarily dropping two spots in the week before the Federal Budget (Lindsay Tanner dropping off the earth this week as well — not one of those budgets that’s all done and dusted a couple of weeks out, you would suspect).

Penny Wong the other main mover along with the relevant spokespeople Andrew Robb and Christine Milne thanks to this week’s shock, horror, amazing announcement of a one-year delay in the onset of the Fundamental Building Block of Life Pollution Reduction Scheme — that one is surely going into the handbook of how not to spin along with “temporary deficit”. Note to the media team, sometimes more really is less.

Malcolm Turnbull creeping his way up the list in what you would expect would be close to the natural top five week in week out.
