Malcolm Turnbull exits the stage claiming he’s too old to be Lazarus (let’s face it, the parliamentary system was never going to be the right model for Turnbull style leadership) as a bunch of social and economic liberals go back to wondering whether they’ll ever have someone to vote for again.
The Minister for Population jumps in to a rare top ten appearance, his new role an interesting juxtaposition with the agriculture portfolio — will we see any revolutionary ideas, perhaps a lower minimum wage outside metropolitan areas or other business incentives to disperse the metropolitan mass? Or just some more reviews? Hmmm.
Will Hodgman is now set to be the minority Liberal Premier of Tasmania, with many on the mainland interested to see how and if any formal arrangement with the balance of power Greens will work.
Greg Combet also in the news this week as the insulation fix-up finally sees him forced to give up what was meant to be his main job in Defence, while his boss sneaks into the top 20 below him as water becomes a topic of conversation once again thanks to a higher profile Shadow.
Still very much the Tony and Kevin show on talkback, with population issues clearly also of keen interest to those who ring up radio stations.
