Dissent in the ranks on Defence pensions. Regarding your tip yesterday on Tony Abbott gagging debate on pensions: the Liberals need to be careful about their handling of this as the Defence community, retired and serving, is very upset that their pensions rise at half the rate of old age, welfare and, of course, parliamentary pensions. The Rudd Government back-flipped on pre-election promises and, in a disingenuous move just prior to the election, have asked the ex-service community to engage in ‘consultation’ about indexation. This issue is resounding in the services community like no other for years.
Ad turns sour for Liberals. It was clearly a mistake for the Libs to allow comments on the ‘Kevin OLemon’ You Tube video — 400-plus comments, with the most popular being ‘bulger2504’ announcing: “This secured my vote for the labour [sic] party.”
Can-Do putting Family First? Wendy Francis, the lead Senate candidate for Family First in Queensland, is using this photo on her campaign website. I wonder what LNP mayor of Brisbane Campbell Newman thinks about featuring prominently on a rival political party’s website, appearing as if he is endorsing Francis?
