What’s wrong with the Heat?  It’s the question on everyone’s lips in the NBA.  This afternoon they were thumped by Indiana on their own patch.  Without being too harsh on the Pacers, that just shouldn’t happen.  It’s still early in the season but things do not look good in Miami.

Dwyane Wade is back from injury, but his numbers aren’t – today he was humbled by Pacer Brandon Rush and shot just 1 from 13.  They are horrendous numbers for mere mortals, let alone Wade.  Some good news for Heat fans is big man Chris Bosh finding form, the former Raptor posted his second double-double in a row after just one in the first 11 games.  If things don’t turn around soon coach Erik Spoelstra will literally be feeling the heat (sorry!).

The team of the moment is San Antonio who defeated Orlando and extended their streak to 11 wins.  Both teams went into the matchup atop their conference (Boston has since replaced Orlando) and by all reports it was a ripper.  The Spurs came from behind to win 106-97 to continue their best ever start to a season.  Worryingly for the Magic they are yet to beat a genuine contender.

If you haven’t seen Blake Griffin light it up against New York you haven’t really lived, Leigh featured it on his Monday Wrap.  Sure the dunks were amazing, but the best part for me was the joy in the faces of the long suffering Clipper fans (fellow Richmond supporters will know how they feel).  The Lakers’ little cousins are playing a stack of promising kids and look like they might finally be turning the corner.

In terms of overall standings, teams are sorting themselves out and there aren’t too many major shocks.  The biggest disappointments so far are Miami, Milwaukee and Houston.  Sides performing better than expected are Cleveland and New Orleans.  San Antonio have been ultra impressive but were expected to be towards the pointy end of the Western Conference.

In the NFL.  The only thing really worth noting is that the Bills won again.  Not only did they win, they put 49 points past Cincinnati.  We can just choose to forget that Cincinnati are rubbish.  Pittsburgh make the trip to Buffalo next weekend so don’t hold your breath for three in a row, but we live in hope.

Somehow the NY Jets snatched victory against Houston with a massive 72 yard drive in the dying seconds.  The NY Giants lost a huge NFC East Division face off against Philadelphia and the Eagles have now won their last three.  Green Bay thumped Minnesota and New England tried their hardest to lose but eventually got over the line against Indianapolis.  Interestingly that means the Patriots will have maintained a positive win-loss ratio every year for the last decade.  Making them statistically the most successful side in the competition, whatever that means.

From the next fortnight onwards sides will start to book their spots in the playoffs and others will make late charges.  There’s six regular season rounds to go, so things are about to get very interesting.

For this week’s video – check out Denver’s (soon to be New Jersey’s?) Carmelo Anthony doing what he does best against Portland.
