Apparently Kevin Pietersen had Michael Clarke caught at short leg by Alistair Cook with, what ended up being, the last ball of yesterday’s play. Apparently there was some controversy. Apparently it was the most crucial wicket of this Ashes series as Australia is now 4/238 with an entire day’s play to defend against a loss. And Marcus North — yes, Marcus North — is the man to save us.
I say apparently because I was wasn’t watching the cricket on Channel Nine. The cricket was cut short for the “news”. I was watching a pathetic “news” story on Nine News Melbourne about Brisbane Lion Brendan Fevola hitting a baseball for a promotion for Brisbane’s new baseball team that smashed a passer-by’s car window. I can safely say, that thanks to Nine News, I am now more stupid for watching.
Thanks to the internet you can watch the dismissal at the end of this highlights video:

Channel Nine doesn’t deserve the Ashes when this happens. Bring on “use it or lose it” anti-siphoning laws.
Crikey predictions:
Leigh Josey: This is the forecast for today’s weather in Adelaide according to the Bureau of Meteorology:
A morning shower, increasing to showers and a thunderstorm during the afternoon and evening. Warm to hot with moderate northeast to northerly winds and a light to moderate southwest afternoon sea breeze.
The sound you here right now is the prayers of Ricky Ponting being answered. Here’s a radar image of the incoming rain:
And if the rain fails to save Ponting’s Ashes dream? Then can Michael Hussey, Brad Haddin and Marcus North save Australia? That is the question.
Today will be fascinating viewing.
