The UK is to have its referendum on whether the first-past-the-post voting system should be changed to an alternative vote system where voters can allocate preferences. The House of Lords finally abandoned an attempt to require at least 40% of voters to take part in the referendum for a change in the system to become law.
The latest opinion poll from ComRes poll for the BBC’s Newsnight puts those for and against the alternative vote system equal at 41%.
