I still feel traumatised by that Four Corners story, unable to get the images of suffering tortured cattle out of my head. As a NSW farmer I was horrified by the graphic evidence of what our Australian meat industry has allowed to occur, despite years of claims that they were helping the Indonesians improve their slaughter practices. I desperately hope it doesn’t fall out of the news cycle quickly. And kudos to FD for putting it into a cartoon. I even laughed at the 4th panel. God knows I needed it.

I eat very little red meat and only have recently because of needing to reverse some reaaallllly poor blood test results. To even think that I started eating it to save my own hide made me feel sick last night. I have an appointment with a dietician to talk about alternatives to red meat.
Thanks FD. And that goes for Australia Meat and Livestock and all the rest of them. 🙁

Well put, Mr Dog. Somehow you sketched a ‘toon on this subject, dunno how you managed it.
Infrequently, I indulge in a salami sandwich but, after last night, that’s history.
Panel one is pretty spot on FD.
4Corners was brutal, confronting journalism last night.
Hopefully, it might even make a difference to the horror that’s been going on for years. 🙁
P.S. The ham sandwich shows your “inner cartoonist” is alive and well.
(Even if it *is*, yet another sad story.)

Zut – amazingly, FD draws ingeniously with his left hand. How incredible is that !
Another monumental day for cutting edge cartooning !
Prediction: Live export stops. More work for Australian meat industry workers. Domestic supply of red meat goes up. Prices fall a bit – especially for the rubbish end of the market – which is what gets exported to a certain major regional market. This hits fewer voters in the Northern Territory and FNQ. Some graziers go out of production. This eases pressure on the land. Wool prices skyrocket due to record low supply. Sheep graziers who can no longer export live, grow wool. Supply of wool goes up. Wool prices fall – especially at the rubbish end of the market.
More rubbish quality meat goes into pet food (as usual). How does FD feel about that ?
Music goes round and round.
Some people do not have a seat when it stops.
Cows and sheep graze peacefully until the show is over in some highly controlled, humane killing abattoir that knocks them on the head and slits their throats.
We put another steak on the barbie or enjoy one of Sam Kekovitch’s mum’s roast lamb dinners (if we save up for a few months).
