Remember the library?
We were inspired to visit the poor neglected microfiche department of the State Library this week by the editor of The Daily Telegraph Paul Whittaker. Specifically, his challenge to Senator Conroy’s office to prove his assertion of bias when it comes to the paper’s carbon tax coverage.
Whittaker wrote this week:
“The Daily Telegraph is simply doing what it has always done, and done well — holding the government of the day to account … [Conroy] should examine our archives for previous instances of this stance, which ranges across all political parties.”
That’s a good idea, we thought. So we did. Examined the archives, that is.
With a specific case study of the last great piece of economic reform to arrest the nation’s attention … John Howard’s GST.
