The Glenn Dyer breakdown: The Rudd resignation got viewers flocking to the news channels: News 24 had a 2.2% share in metro markets and 3.0% in regional areas. Sky News finished second among Pay TV channels on Foxtel and Austar. The Dream on News 24 and 7.30 saw significant jumps in audience (7.30 made the top 10 national programs). Paul Murray Live on Sky News saw its audience surge to where it was the second most watched program on Pay TV with 109,000 from 9pm to 10pm , which is more than the audience that watched SBS’s 10.30pm News.

Ten’s new morning program, Breakfast, started this morning, instead of next Monday. Good luck. It was started 12 hours after the network revealed a 12% drop in revenue and 40% plunge in earnings for the six months to the end of this month.

Woodley was OK, just over half a million viewers first up, which is about right.

Seven dominated thanks to My Kitchen Rules and Please Marry My Boy.

The Kitchen Cabinet sneak peak averaged 320,000 on ABC 1, but the program proper averaged 192,000 at 9.30pm on ABC 2. The figures have it, it was on the wrong network. An ABC programming blunder! Will the program have to change after Monday’s leadership bout?

Tonight: The Straits at 8.30pm. At 8pm, Family Confidential: the Holmes à Courts. Luke Nguyen’s Greater Mekong — a new series — at 7.30 pm. Seven has My Kitchen Rules and Grey’s Anatomy. Nine has the second episode of Earthflight (wasted on this night). Ten has The Biggest Loser and another fresh Law and Order: SVU. 7.30 and the others on the argy bargy in Canberra.
