A clear win to The Voice (2.858 million national/ 2.07 million metro/ 788,000 regional) in last night’s great fusion stoush. My Kitchen Rules (2.103 million national/ 1.368 million metro/ 734,000 regional) fell noticeably as its menu failed to tempt viewers, while The Voice jumped to top the 2 million mark in metro areas. Brisbane came back to the Nine fold after straying to Seven on Monday night, but Seven was a close winner in Adelaide and a huge winner in Perth, where local viewers just don’t like Nine at all, or its warblers.

Kevin Bacon’s debut with The Following on Nine was a moderate success with 1.482 million national/ 1.031 million metro/ 451,000 regional. But half the metro  and national audience of The Voice didn’t stay, which doesn’t bode well for its second outing tonight. The Following wasn’t popular in regional markets. Seven’s venerable Packed To The Rafters 1.795 million national/ 1.155 million metro/ 640,000 regional clearly won the post-mega-hit segment from around 8.40pm onwards. Nine had a narrow win in regional markets after Monday night’s loss.

And why did The Voice lift? A belated discovery by more fans that it was back? The appearance of duos last night? Who knows. Nine’s ACA had its best night for months with 1.501 million national/1.275 million metro/ 226,000 regional). Ten’s The Biggest Loser had 776,000 national/ 568,000 metro/ 212,000 regional viewers and was again squeezed. But the Network managed to nip past the ABC into third spot in metro and regional markets (Well a tie in the main channels with ABC 1 in regional areas).

In the mornings Today (Nine, 544,000 national/ 397,000 metro/ 147,000 regional) had its biggest metro win over Sunrise (Seven, 536,000 national/ 320,000 metro/ 216,000 regional) for years. The 77,000 metro win came after Today won on Monday with its after Logies coverage. But Iwas more watched in regional markets.

Tonight: Dare we watch … Mad As Hell on ABC1 and then Mr and Mrs Murder on Ten for our weekly Shaun Micallef fix. That’s after tonight’s installment of the great menu clash on Seven and Nine from 7pm. ABC1 also has Tractor Monkeys and the Elegant Gentleman’s Guide To Knife Fighting, which should be worth a second glance. Nine also has a second helping of  The Following after The Voice at 8.40pm. Ten also has The Good Wife, so a reasonable night of viewing all up.
