A night when those who didn’t watch TV won. Seven won overall in metro and regional markets, Nine won the main channels. The ABC was third (both overall and main channels) ahead of a weak Ten.

There were no highlights, as the figures for the most watched programs confirm. Stephen Fry’s Key To The City had 1.003 million national/695,000 metro/ 308,000 regional viewers. It was like an hour long solo version of QI, with Fry asking and answering questions about London, but without the siren for the wrong or pedestrian answer. Still no joy for Ten in the morning as Wake Up had 36,000 metro viewers and 54,000 nationally. Studio 10 managed just 30,000 metro viewers and 46,000 nationally.

And in news that will please the Seven Network and horrify movie lovers, NBC (one of Seven’s prime US suppliers, the other is Disney) is to produce a TV mini-series based on the 1967 book, Rosemary’s Baby. Roman Polanski turned the book into a great spooky movie in 1968 starring Mia Farrow. Can it survive the transfer to the small screen? The other great 1960s spooky book, The Exorcist, is also being turned into a mini series. No network has owned up to greenlighting that one. Miley Cyrus for the Rosemary role, or the baby, or the Linda Blair role and the spinning head?
