Seven and Nine tied the All People (overall) result in metro markets last night and in the regions, Seven won from Nine. But in the main channels (the real battle), Nine won both. For Ten the post Masterchef Australia/Commonwealth Games slide pushed it back to fourth spot behind the ABC, with a substantial gap between the pair. Ten’s regional main channel share was only 8.8%, which was lower than its main channel share in the metros of 10.4%.

The X Factor had 1.695 million national/ 1.055 million metro/ 640,000 regional viewers (the regional audience lifted from Sunday night). The Block had 1.667 million national/ 1.111 million metro/ 556,000 regional viewers. The return of the local version of The Amazing Race (this one is a trans-Tasman battle) on Seven had a less than stunning return — on paper. The 885,000 national/ 589,000 metro/ 296,000 regional viewers ran from 9pm to 11pm, so the actual audience was quite solid for that time of night  — especially past 10 pm. For Seven it was another weak performance from The X Factor —  Nine’s The Block Glasshouse did better in the metros, but both were not well supported by the viewers.
