Lyons Lambie’s new bestie? Jacqui Lambie may have a new ally in her eponymous network. In an interview with the ABC’s Jon Faine this morning, colourful Geelong Mayor Darryn Lyons evaded questions about whether or not he was going to attempt a move to federal politics, and whether it would be with Lambie, who recently visited Geelong to spruik the idea of a ferry between the city and Launceston. Lyons didn’t pull any punches when it came to local MP Richard Marles, but was less straightforward when it came to what he would rule in and out, saying “I would never deny what I’m going to do tomorrow” and “well, the way it’s going I think someone needs to stand up and go for it” when Faine asked if he would run with Lambie. He did eventually say “I am not transitioning into federal politics at all”, but it took a long time to get there. Just imagine if we ended up with this at a federal level?
