It’s that time of the year when Crikey readers decide who wins and who loses in the game of public life (plus who looked hottest on the parliamentary stage).
Last year Tony Abbott romped it home as Arsehat of the Year, disability rights advocate Stella Young was a well-deserved Person of the Year, Scott Ludlam stole the crown from Malcolm Turnbull as sexiest male pollie, and Tanya Plibersek took out sexiest female MP.
This year, on account of the former PM’s unfair advantage in the category of Arsehat (see: almost everything he did in 2015), we retired him from the public vote and awarded him the Golden Arsehat for lifetime achievement. Read on to find out who won your heart (and middle finger) in 2015 …
This is not the last edition of Crikey for the year — we’ll be publishing right up until December 23 to make sure we don’t miss any of those uncomfortable government announcements that get dropped on the quiet around this time of year.
If you’re lucky enough to be finishing up today, spare a thought for us here in the bunker, and don’t forget to check in between naps, books and mojitos.
Crikey is committed to hosting lively discussions. Help us keep the conversation useful, interesting and welcoming. We aim to publish comments quickly in the interest of promoting robust conversation, but we’re a small team and we deploy filters to protect against legal risk. Occasionally your comment may be held up while we review, but we’re working as fast as we can to keep the conversation rolling.
