Seven won total people in the metros, Nine won the main channels, and Ten was fourth, narrowly in the main channels. In the regionals it was Seven first, then daylight, and then the rest — the contrast between the metro and regional results was a bit of an eye-opener on a night when the content on the screen was a bit of an eye closer — dull, dreck, boring except the the debut of the Brian Cox series Forces of Nature, which attracted 911,000 metro viewers for the ABC at 8.30pm. Britain’s Got Talent with 961,000 national viewers over two and a half very slow hours from 7.30pm did the job in metro markets for Nine, but not in the regions.

In the regions, Seven News was again tops with 662,000 viewers from Seven News/Today Tonight with 548,000, Home and Away was third with 520,000, The Chase Australia at 5.30pm with 473,000 was fourth and Make You Laugh Out Loud was fifth for Seven with 419,000.

Winners & Losers seems to be heading towards an end – Seven doubling the episodes from 8.30pm to 10.30pm. But because of its solid pull for female viewers, that means Seven had an average of 812,000 national mostly female viewers (especially in 18-to-49s) for the two hours, which was a bit of a bonus on a dull Tuesday night.

Sunrise had another cash-strewn win over an equally freebie-strewn Today — 324,000 to 290,000.
