An apt comment Bernard. The contrast between ASIC and the overseas counterparts is stingingly acute. Only by calling out these anomalies is there any chance of having our institutional systems, our so-called checks and balances, bail up some of the set sacred cows of the corporate capitalist ascendancy.

So, Bernard Keane wonders why a loud silence has gripped the federal government over the alleged gigantic frauds perpetrated by mining giant, Rio Tinto and its former chief executive, Tom Albanese. Perhaps it’s the same fear that Eric Beecher and Emily Watkins believe grips those who are caught resisting the will of Rosebud?
Of course, as our forever feckless political masters understand only too well, no matter how big, ugly & powerful they are, there is always a Rosebud out there who is bigger, uglier & more powerful who will definitely hurt them if they dare to offend.
