The main event yesterday was the Super Bowl, won by the New England Patriots. The CBS says that 100.7 million people watched their broadcast, CBS Interactive, NFL digital properties and other streamers that carried the game in the US. In Australia 308,000 watched the midday game on 7mate and 130,000 on Foxtel — the top rating program on pay TV, knocking out the test cricket and BBL.

Meanwhile, Nine won the night with MAFS numbers up to 1.54 million. MKR on Seven managed 1.28 million and I’m A Celebrity on Ten averaged 833,000. The ABC returned Four Corners (812,000 ), Media Watch (761,000 ) and Q&A (546,000). 7.30 had 981,000 and the 7pm ABC News had 1.16 million (both boosted by the final report of the banking royal commission).

In regional markets, Seven News/Today Tonight won with 619,000, Seven’s 6pm News had 599,000, MKR had 467,000, MAFS had 431,000 and the 7pm ABC News had 391,000.
