Channel Ten

Ten and the ABC were the only networks in the game last night.

Ten won total people and the main channels thanks to MasterChef Australia having another good night with 1.31 million national viewers. Seven depended on another strong 6pm news hour, averaging 1.88 million, but then fell away. Nine’s hour averaged 1.51 million, ACA 1.14 million and that was it.

The ABC might have ended fourth overall but from 7pm to 7.30pm it won the slot with the news averaging 1.24 million. From 7.30pm to 9pm it ran second behind MasterChef and in front of Britain’s Got Talent on Seven. In Breakfast, Sunrise won with 540,000 national and 325,000 metro, while ABC News Breakfast‘s 361,000 national and 249,000 metro ran second for the third morning in a row, well in front of Nine’s floundering Today

News Breakfast is now a real habit for viewers after Sunrise. Today is in trouble and all the money Nine has spent on its revamp can’t seem to break that habit in the audience.

In the regions it was Seven News on 706,000, Seven News 6.30 with 638,000, The Chase Australia 5.30pm on 439,000, Home and Away on 411,000, and 7pm ABC News on 398,000.
