Well, a boring, arid night that would drive a viewer to drink just to get away from the miserable spectacle on the TV or the mobiles.

So far as viewers were concerned, the AFL (613,000 nationally) and NRL (549,000) games on Seven (Gold Coast v St Kilda) and Nine (St George v Easts) respectively were almost afterthoughts.

On Foxtel they attracted 208,000 for the AFL game between Gold Coast and St Kilda and 203,000 for the 5pm game between Collingwood and Sydney (Foxtel only) and the NRL game between St George and Easts, 208,000.

Nothing to set the ratings alarms a ringing (in a good way). A deep winter night of Australian men’s sport. A couple of nasty injuries though.

These figures for Foxtel do not reflect the extra Kayo viewers (which include Telstra subscribers). That would audiences, but measuring them is next to impossible (as accurately as metered homes). But those games were the highlights on what was a Netflix night, really, or perhaps Stan.

Seven won from Nine, Ten (total people) and the ABC (third in front of Ten in the main channels). The more popular AFL will see Seven win tonight and tomorrow night. Brian Taylor will bombast for Seven. Nights to lay down and avoid, I think.
