Entre Nous isn’t a dating agency – although it aims to bring people together. It’s an amateur hour lobbying company that seems to be a wholly owned subsidiary of the Santo Santoro faction of the Queensland Liberal Party. And its website seems to be a regular rogues’ gallery.
It even links through to the Queensland Liberal Professional Alliance – the branch at the centre of stacking allegations in Sunday’s preselection to succeed David Jull in the safe seat of Fadden. The Gold Coast Bulletin reported on the weekend:
Parishioners form the right-wing Church of Christ at Southport have signed up as Liberal Party members to help one of their own, former military man Stuart Robert, become the Gold Coast’s next federal Liberal MP.
At least 32 churchgoers, and possibly as many as 45, joined the Liberal Party, all on the same day, within weeks of Fadden MP David Jull announcing in 2005 that he had lung cancer.
The churchgoers are part of the Professional Alliance faction of the Liberal Party…
You’d think lobbyists would know better than to get involved in a mess like this, but it appears not – even though the mess is getting murkier.
“Fadden Liberal MP David Jull has launched an extraordinary attack on branch-stacking as the race to choose his successor turns ugly,” the Gold Cost Bulletin reports today:
Mr Jull’s comments came as Gold Coast City Council finance committee chairman Rob Molhoek was yesterday being investigated by council chief executive Dale Dickson for endorsing a federal Liberal Party candidate, using council letterhead…
Cr Molhoek and Mr Robert are close friends… and they are disciples of the Church of Christ at Parklands.
Jull has send a scorcher of a letter out to preselectors, urging that they exercise their responsibility “with great care”.
He calls branch-stacking “not only an affront to my integrity, but an insult to branch members who sweat and toil, attend branch meetings, attend functions and donate money to the party to have their pre-selection vote possibly cancelled out by people we have never seen or who have never been involved in Fadden Liberal activities.
“I have no record of any of these preselectors doing anything in my electorate.”
