Which South Australian Senator has been overheard telling people about how they have demanded their staff organise the electorate office in such a way as to allow the Senator to not have to enter the office during non-sitting weeks and rather “work from home”?

Cricket Australia is currently polling clubs, senior and junior, about their views on CA having an online shop to provide their clothing, equipment and trophies. If it goes ahead, it’s sure to upset thousands of small family businesses across Australia, put plenty of people out of work. Currently CA sources all of its in cricket equipment in China — so Aussie businesses such as trophy makers, etc, will miss out too!

Interesting fact about the solar credits scheme put in place by Wong and Garrett. The rebate scheme created by the Howard government required that all installations conform to Australian standards, be installed by an accredited installer and all solar panels must be IEC certified. The solar credits scheme does NOT ask for any of this. You do not have to be accredited, nor do your panels have to be IEC certified. There is nothing stopping someone using dodgy panels. The scheme put in place by Garrett’s department is not safe and not acceptable.

Just so you know, I have been in the solar industry for six years (before the rebate ramped things up) and I currently own and operate a solar wholesale and engineering business. I work hard to provide quality products that are well designed and conform to all Australian standards and international standards, and I am pissed off with the cowboys in this industry.

Years ago, the federal government bureaucracy claimed that it had learnt much from the Hughes Aircraft Corporation debacle. At the centre of that debacle was the concept of “risk management”. Federal government workers at every level were trained up in how to avoid putting the federal government in the difficult spot of having contaminated egg on its collective face.

Simply put: the roof insulation scandal should never have happened. Garrett should never have allowed a system that was so inherently risky to proceed. Nor should his bureaucrats.

Thought you should have a look at what these absolute wankers in Sydney are doing, trying to find new people to move into their apartment. They’re looking for people to pay a $40 application fee (10% of which they claim will go to charity) and then want them to prepare them a dinner! There has been some lively discussion in the comments, with the general sentiment being that these people have their head up their -rses.
