It’s nice to know that Kevin Rudd appreciates our work. Yesterday morning Crikey put in a call to the office of Labor’s accountability spokesperson Senator Penny Wong, asking about the Prime Minister’s Liberal Party dos at the Lodge.

We seemed to have jogged the ALP’s memory. The PM’s entertaining became the focus of every single question at Question Time yesterday.

The Prime Minister is a hospitable bloke. He loves a party. So here’s another free kick for Kevin.

Mr Rudd, could you please remind us just who footed the bill for the victory drinks the Prime Minister hosted for his monarchist mates after the republic referendum on 18 November 1999?

No doubt your troops raked over the details in Estimates, but we’d love it if you could refresh our memories.

PS A smart bloke, that Anthony Albanese! When Albo was talking about the PM’s entertaining yesterday, he observed “The only way that the food at Kirribilli could have cost $9.46 a head was if guests leaned over the fence at Kirribilli and fished it directly out of Sydney Harbour”. The North Sydney Council’s website says: “Kirribilli is thought to be named from an Aboriginal word meaning ‘good fishing spot’.” The PM must host pot luck dinners.
