Christopher Brown, managing director of the Tourism & Transport Forum
We have long argued that the decline in domestic travel and Australia’s declining share of international holiday visitors is linked to a lack of new product development. Developing innovative tourism products and experiences will entice first time visitors as well as encouraging repeat visitation, both domestic and international. While the industry will continue to keep up the pressure for increased tourism funding, we recognise that today’s announcement goes some way towards addressing our concerns over a lack of public investment in tourism infrastructure.
