Longtime NSW gallery journo Paul Mullins is pulling stumps next month. Word is Channel 10 have a female replacement in mind… is Angela Bishop following in the family footsteps?
Saying sorry. If these photos are anything to go by then the Yuendumu community may be waiting a while for an apology…
I’ve been an accounting manager at several very large companies with a turnover greater than $500 million per year and have witnessed the pathetic and inaccurate effort that goes into completing Australian Bureau of Statistic (ABS) surveys eg. Business Activity Survey etc. Most large companies would receive at least one survey per month. Usually this task will be completed by a junior or even temporary staff member who has no idea about the business, but yet would guess as to business results and future expectations etc. These junior staff often sign-off these surveys with no review by senior staff or directors. In this day and age it’s amazing that these survey forms don’t have to be signed off by a director. What happened to CLERP 9 reforms? One wonders this being the case how accurate any ABS national statistics are?
Re. “…turning off NSW Rivers and Foreshore Act” mentioned in “Tips and Rumours” (yesterday, item 7). Might this be related to works associated with Sydney’s desalination plant? Energy Aust is laying cable across Botany Bay for a new substation to feed the desal plant. Apparently the undersea cable route cuts through sensitive seagrass beds…
Re. The privatisation debate and Costa’s leverage over unions – the NSW Government hasn’t yet agreed on the next pay rise for all NSW public servants due on 30 June – 4% has been the mark for the last three years…
Media Monitors has today informed Contractor Monitors in regional areas of NSW the dates their services will be no longer required, during April and June. Media Monitors has entered into a commercial agreement with the ABC. This agreement involves placing Digital Capture Devices in every ABC radio station across regional Australia.
Did MX in Sydney really have a front page story about MySpace? Even given the MX target demographic, was that the number one story of the day? And what disclosure about how MX and MySpace are News Corp cousins?
You have to wonder about Virgin’s airline credentials. After Sydney Airport re-opened after storms on Wednesday, Qantas got going, but poor old Virgin couldn’t.
