OK. So I admit I once sent a memo to some
poor public servants telling them not to send me draft media releases and
speeches with “task” being used a verb and very, very clearly stating that
nothing was ever “addressed” by the government – they “tackled” problems, thank
you – but can anyone explain what this example of bureaucrat-speak from
South Australia means:

OBJECTIVE KEEPS HOUSING TRUST

KNOWLEDGE UNDER ONE ROOF

The South Australian Housing Trust has
chosen Objective Corporation to unite the silos of information it has on a wide
variety of people so that knowledge can be made more easily accessible.

The SA Housing Trust provides public
housing and housing-related services to people in South Australia
through a network of 17 regional offices across the State.

These services include the provision of
public housing programs that cater for young people and customers with
special needs.

Objective will be entrusted to allow the
Housing Trust to facilitate the effective capture, storage and retrieval of explicit
knowledge that exists throughout its statewide network of offices.

It is planned that silos of information
throughout the Housing Trust will be eliminated, so that information stored
inside a central repository will be accessible to 700 users across the
enterprise every day.

Objective has also assured The Housing
Trust that it will meet its business practices and the compliance requirements
of the South Australian State Records Act 1997 and the Freedom of Information
Act 1991.
