FD, i find that marmite goes best with a toasty bagel…vegemite for the square stuff – marmite for round, it can get complicated at our joint at breakfast time…i won’t bore you with my tea leave preparation fetish

As a child I saw hummingbirds in my garden. And in the adjoining forest, woodpeckers pecking away near their hollows in the fir trees. I highly recommend them both as candidates for “bird I’d most like to meet” . Black swans were at the top of the list for me for a while, and I still appreciate them in the wild.

There is an excellent article on crows on the internets somewhere. They remember your face, and if they hate you they attack you and scold you. And they teach other crows to do the same. If confronted by a Cassowary, you must quickly put your hands up high, to give the illusion of great tallness. The Cassowary will retire, cowed. I hope I have helped you in your bird appreciation. Thank you for the cartoon.
