June and we have it already – the political lie of the year. It’s not just a blatant mistruth, it is so patently, blatantly untrue that it’s remarkable a political organisation with even a skerrick of credibility would try to get away with it.
What is it? It’s the Tasmanian Greens’ description of yesterday’s industrial action as a “non-politically aligned rally organised by the Australian Council of Trade Unions”:
Industrial Relations Rally
Date: Wednesday, 28th June, 2006
Start Time: 12.00pm
Location: Princes Square, Launceston
Description: Want to do something about unfair work laws? Well, here’s your opportunity!Learn about the Tasmanian Greens Industrial Relations and Workers Compensation and the Federal Greens Industrial Relations policies then participate in a non-politically aligned rally organised by the Australian Council of Trade Unions.
The rally is part of the “your rights at work” campaign and held during a National Week of Action…
Non-political? This is untrue, egregious, laughable – and also insulting. Insulting because the Tasmanian Greens clearly believe that voters and the people in the media who work to keep them informed willingly swallow sh-t.
How remarkable that it’s the nation’s most sanctimonious political party pushing this pile of ordure.
