Labor has extended its lead in the latest Morgan Poll of federal voting intention.

Primary support for the ALP is up 1% to 49.5%, while support for the government has dropped 1.5 points to 34.5%.

The two party preferred vote splits 60/40 Labor’s way, an increase of 1.5%. More people now think Labor will win the next election – 56.5%, a rise of 2%.

Thirty-one per cent – down 2.5% – believe the government will be returned and 12.5% can’t say, a drop of 2.5%.

Rudd can lap up all the Lindt he likes this Easter – but he still has make sure there isn’t egg on his face the morning after the election.

The polls are looking good now, but there’s still the Budget session to get through, let alone the campaign.
