Scriptwriting. Nice to see that Jeff Kennett’s reading his Crikey and shares our view that Peter Costello’s comments on the Victorian Libs don’t do much to reinforce his leadership credentials.

Greenhouse gasbagging. The Government and the ALP seem to have swapped sides, looking at their different approaches to how to tackle greenhouse emissions. Compare and contrast the Government’s fondness for picking winners – spending public money on ideas such as geosequestration, last week’s LPG rebates, ethanol pork-barrelling – with what Labor’s environment spokesman Anthony Albanese has been saying this week: “We need the pull of the market as well as the push of new technology to ensure it is deployed. That’s why market mechanisms are at the core of international efforts to tackle climate change…”
