Only one channel tried seriously last night — Seven with My Kitchen Rules (2.8 million national/ 1.921 million metro/ 982,000 regional) and Revenge (1.815 million national/ 1.234 million metro/ 581,000 regional). ABC1 had a go, but Australian Story was (like the previous Sunday), an updated old story, which was a pity. With MKR back on Seven (but Nine running dead, again), Ten’s The Biggest Loser eased to 1.038 million national/ 774,000 metro/ 264,000 regional. That’s around 300,000 lower than last week. Next week when MKR and The Voice (on Nine) are going, The Biggest Loser is going to be really squeezed. Sunday Night remains on a break next Sunday night.

Thankfully Easter is over. There were a couple of classic footy games: yesterday’s Cats-Hawks clash in Melbourne and the Good Friday NRL epic between Souths and Canterbury. And the start of a nice new series from the UK on ABC1 called Last Tango in Halifax (Saturdays at 7.30pm). Watch the first episode on iView and then watch next week or record. An excellent program. Dr Blake’s Mysteries maintained its solidity on Friday night on ABC1. Still the best local program of the year so far.

US update: The ABC1 series The Straits looks like it’s being worked up into a US-located drama series, according to reports from US media websites. Deadline.com reports Cinemax has started pre-production work on a series that will be located in and around southern Florida. (The Straits was set in Torres Strait and aired on ABC1 in 2011). Rake, another ABC 1 show, is in pilot production by Fox in the US.

Tonight: My Kitchen Rules on Seven. Packed To The Rafters has its break tonight for Easter. The Biggest Loser on Ten, Foreign Correspondent on ABC1. Insight and Dateline are back on SBS ONE after their egg and bun break last week (which must have been the reason why Insiders, Inside Business and Offsiders had Sunday off. Does that then mean there were no buns or eggs for The Bolt Report and Meat The Press on Ten, which both aired?). Repeats on Nine.
