Heather D’Cruz writes: Re. “Razer: why I have not received a single Christmas card this year” (yesterday). While all of us continue to react and try to understand why/how Trump won the presidency, Helen Razer dismisses the role of fake news in influencing voters. Unfortunately, however much we might wish that voters were more discerning, there have been reports in reputable media about what people will believe as true.
For years, we’ve had the “birtherism” issue seeking to undermine Barack Obama’s legitimacy as President. More recently, the so-called pizzagate scandal that claimed Hillary Clinton was running a paedophile ring led a man to the pizza restaurant. He was heavily armed, seeking to save the children involved. These are just two examples.
