Gee that was quick. Only four nights into the first week of official ratings for 2019 and Ten has kindly donated the first prime time flop of the ratings year to viewers.
It was Changing Rooms from 7.30pm. A weak half hour program best suited to a minor channel like 10 Peach, which was blown out to 90 excruciating minutes. Viewers responded accordingly, with the program only attracting 304,000 national viewers (204,000 in the metros and just 100,000 in the regions). Desperate Ten can’t keep it in the schedule. That’s a million dollars or more gone in 90 minutes.
So it was Nine’s night thanks to the MAFS monster (1.72 million nationally, 1.29 million in the metros) — never has a person’s virginity brought so much ratings prosperity to a TV network. Seven’s MKR faded to a national 1.16 million, just when things were looking up. Ten tonight will do better with Gogglebox Australia tonight. But they have another problem emerging in the ratings of the The Project. For the past two nights, its audience figures in metro markets have been lower than the Ten News from 5-6pm.
Meanwhile, in the regions Seven’s 6pm News and Seven News/Today Tonight tied with 492,000, MAFS had 431,000, MKR was next with 401,000 and the 7pm ABC News had 321,000.
