Tennis was the big winner last night, with audiences tuning in for the Nadal-Kyrgios 4th round match. An average of 2.43 million watched the prime time component of the match until 10.30. 1.86 million were in the metros and 582,000 in the regions.
The audience for the late segment dipped to a still solid 1.13 million (the game finished after 11pm). That completed a run of million plus audiences for the tennis across the long weekend.
A solid 1.3 million watched Ash Barty gallop, struggle and then finish strongly on Sunday night to set up her quarter final match this afternoon. Roger Federer plays his quarter final this afternoon as well, so that will guarantee a big audience, but nothing like last night when Nine’s audience jumped by 1.1 million (on average nationally) from the previous night’s best figures.
Outside of the tennis, the elimination on I’m A Celebrity averaged 957,000 and the lead up averaged 799,000.
Nine’s tennis coverage averaged 582,000 in regional markets, followed by Seven News with 485,000 and Seven News 6.30 with 483,000. Home and Away returned for 2020 and managed 352,000 in the regions (and 900,000 nationally) and Nine/NBN News and Nine/NBN News 6.30pm tied for 5th spot in the regions with 325,000 viewers apiece.
