The Winners: Packed To The Rafters averaged 1.904 million people for Seven at 8.30pm, with Ten’s 7.30pm program, Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation next with 1.479 million. Seven News was 3rd with 1.467 million and A Current Affair was next with 1.357 million. Surf Patrol averaged 1.353 million at 8pm for Seven, Today Tonight was 6th with 1.335 million and Air Ways averaged 1.334 million for Seven at 7.30pm. The 7pm repeat of Two and a Half Men averaged a strong 1.327 million for Nine in 8th and Nine News was 9th with 1.290 million. Home and Away was 10th with 1.270 million, All Saints won the 9.30pm slot with 1.174 million and the 20 to 1 repeat for Nine averaged 1.167 million at 7.30pm. Ten’s 9.30pm repeat of NCIS was 13th with 1.153 million and the 8.30pm repeat was next with 1.078 million. The first of the Two and a Half Men episodes at 8.30pm averaged 1.019 million, and 16th was the 7pm ABC News with 1.018 million. The 9pm episode of Two and a Half Men averaged 940,000. The 7pm Project averaged 795,000.

The Losers: Commercial Breakdown AO on Nine at 9.30pm: poor programs get poor figures. Last night this one attracted 624,000 souls. A very distant third.

News & CA: Seven News again won nationally and in every market but Melbourne. ACA beat TT with its exclusive with the family involved with the 2DayFM lie detector stunt. TT only won Adelaide and Perth. The 7.30 Report averaged 795,000, Lateline, 262,000, Lateline Business, 142,000. Ten News averaged 867,000. the late News/Sports Tonight, 486,000. SBS News at 6.30pm, 176,000, 123,000 for the 9.30pm edition. 7am Sunrise, 401,000, 7am Today, 324,000.

The Stats: Seven won with 31.5% (33.0% a week ago) in the All People 6pm to Midnight slot. Ten was second with 25.9% (25.3%), Nine was third with 23.8% (20.8%), the ABC was on 15.3% (16.2%) and SBS was on 3.6% (4.7%). Seven also won 25 to 54s, Ten won 16 to 39s, Seven won all five markets and leads the week 28.8% to 24.9% for Nine and 23.4% for Ten. In regional areas Prime/7Qld won with 32.3% from Southern Cross (Ten) with 25.9%, WIN/NBN was on 21.9%, the ABC, 16.0% and SBS, 4.0%.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: On The 7.30 Report last night Penny Wong wouldn’t let Kerry take control of the interview. After the antics of Mal Turnbull and Kerry the night before, the Wong inquisition was well mannered.

Foreign Correspondent‘s examination of Venezuela was depressing. The episode was why this is probably close to the best current affairs program around at the moment. When it does country wide stories, they don’t lack for insight. It and Australian Story are at the top of their game at the moment.

TONIGHT: The ABC has the highlights: Spicks and Specks at 8.30pm, The Librarians at 9pm and the United States of Tara at 9.30pm, with The Cook and The Chef thrown in at 6.30pm. SBS has a repeat of Food Safari at 7.30pm on Malaysian food which will be worth watching. Seven has The World’s Strictest Parents at 7.30pm, Nine has RPA at 8.30pm and perhaps The Gift at 9pm. Ten has The 7pm Project and then the fresh episode of The Simpsons.
