Flea-ridden, piddling, stinking, scratching, rotten little things? Lucky Neil Brown is no longer around, as the Australian Koala Foundation is determined to make their presence felt this campaign.
Deborah Tabart, their CEO, says federal candidates have been sent a letter asking them to complete a questionnaire with five key questions designed to gauge their commitment to koala conservation in their electorate.
“For every answer demonstrating a positive commitment to koalas the Candidate is awarded with a koala paw and those with a negative response are rated with an axe,” Tabart says. “The ratings of federal electoral candidates for each electorate have been tallied and are available for viewing from the Act or Axe website.”
Tabart says the AKF are very proud of their site. “It empowers the Australian voters like never before, providing them with objective, scientific data on the koala situation in their electorates along with the response of their political candidates.”
