Elizabeth Evatt AC was the first chief judge of the Family
Court of Australia, from 1976 to 1988. Some of the positions
she has held are: deputy president of the Australian Conciliation
and Arbitration Commission, chair of the Royal Commission
on Human Relationships, president of the Australian
Law Reform Commission, elected member of the UN
Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women, and more.
